HISTORIC STREETS OF CHARLESTON

St. Michael’s Church - God’s LAW

U.S. Post Office - Federal LAW

City Hall - Civil LAW

Courthouse - State LAW

Broad Street & Meeting Street
South of Broad

“The Four Corners of Law” ... similar, yet different. You will find displays of sweetgrass baskets in this area.

Interesting Fact:

St. Philips Church originally stood here, but when the parish grew too large, the church split. St. Philips rebuilt on Church Street and St. Michael’s became the oldest church building downtown Charleston. The steeple was painted black during the Revolutionary War to avoid attack.
